Matt Koohanim
Matt Koohanim founded Koohanim Law Firm and has practiced law in California for more than two decades. An active member of the State Bar of California (Bar No. 222418), admitted in December 2002, he built the firm around the moments that put a family's children, freedom, and future at stake.
The heart of his practice is juvenile dependency — defending parents and caregivers through DCFS and CPS investigations, removal and detention hearings, jurisdiction and disposition, and the path to reunification. He also represents clients in the criminal defense and personal injury matters that so often accompany a dependency case, so families meet related proceedings with one coordinated strategy rather than several disconnected ones.
Cases involving DCFS, criminal charges, or serious injury rarely stay contained to a single courtroom. We coordinate strategy across related proceedings so clients aren't navigating overlapping systems alone.
